It was about 2 months following surgery when I was walking like this. Compare it to the footage of me walking 1 week after surgery. Not bad if I say so myself 😀.
Notice the intense concentration on my face — walking absolutely sapped the life out of me. Unfortunately, walking was no longer automatic or fluid. It took all of my brain power to move my arms and legs together in the right sequence. It was like trying to pat my head with one hand while rubbing my stomach with the other — and talking to someone with a thick Irish accent.
Actually, anything and everything seemed to totally rob me of energy. Whether it was a physio session or a 5-minute conversation with a friend, I was drained physically and mentally.
Even so, I was on a mission to get better. If I wasn’t busy doing hand therapy or physio, I was doing speech therapy or eye exercises. My whole week was jam-packed with rehab, and it was great because I was seeing massive results — which I think encouraged me to work harder.
